Client Spotlight: Jen B.’s Strength Story – From Ballet to Barbell
When Jen Brown first joined our Bent On Better family in 2017—just a few months after we moved into our current personal training studio at 1126 Greenhill Rd, West Chester, PA 19380—she wasn’t looking to lift heavy weights.
In fact, lifting weights wasn’t even on her radar. Jen came in with a ballet and horseback riding background. She was already active, but strength training? Barbells? Dumbbells? That felt like a different world.
But like many women in their 40s, Jen wanted more definition. She wanted to feel stronger in her body. And most importantly, she wanted to increase her strength safely—without falling for the common myth that lifting weights would make her “big and bulky.”
From Beginner to Stronger Than Ever

When she joined our small group personal training program in West Chester, she started from the ground floor. We focused on building a foundation. In the beginning, she trained just 3 days a week, using resistance bands and bodyweight exercises.
Fast-forward to today:
In the photo we’ve shared, Jen is deadlifting 88lbs—and she lifts more than that now.
What’s even more impressive is that it’s close to her own body weight.
